The Prophets Minor was created in January 2020. I had written my first short sketch to be performed in the church I and my family attend in Nottingham, England. The sketch is called “The Three Wise Men…get a little bit wiser”. I filmed the sketch when it was performed and decided I would create a website to put future sketches (videos and scripts) on to. Then, if people liked them, they could either show the video to their church or download the script and do the sketches themselves. In all the sketches and videos found on this website, the parts have been played by ordinary members of the church congregation, and I am grateful for their enthusiasm and effort. People are often more willing than we might think to do things like this if only someone would ask them. Also, whilst the sketches I have written contain stories straight out of the Bible, much of it is also out of my own imagination and speculation. They are a form of Ignatian meditation, and I think this can be really helpful in bringing the Bible to life for all Christians.
Finally, it’s going to take a while for the drama resources on this website to grow…so please come back again some time to see what has been added since you last visited.

Q. Where did the name The Prophets Minor come from?
A. In December 2019, I was introducing my son Joel to Bishop Tony Porter who was visiting our church. I said to him about Joel, “He’s a minor prophet* now, but hopefully, when he grows up, he’ll be a major prophet.” Bishop Tony found that quite amusing.
* The prophet Joel in the Bible is considered a minor prophet. Whereas someone like Isaiah is considered a major prophet.
