I wrote this sketch in February 2020, just before Covid-19 kicked in. The intention was for it to be performed live on Easter Sunday in church. But that year ‘live’ Easter services were cancelled. Through 2020 our church in Chilwell, Nottingham, had to develop new ways of doing church, mostly by broadcasting pre-recorded or live church on YouTube. So, when the 2021 Easter came around, and the national lockdown seemed on the verge of being lifted, I decided to see if the sketch could now be performed in some way. After some discussion with the church leadership it was decided I would have to film the sketch using Zoom. I had done this with other sketches over the past year and I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I reduced the number of child actors needed from 6 to 5 to try and make things a bit easier. Filming people remotely, and in their own homes, and then trying to edit them so that it looked like they were together was never going to produce a perfect video. But the 5 children who took part on the sketch were great, and the video/sketch has so far been well received. So a huge ‘thankyou’ to Imogen, Joel, Joshua, Lizzie and Poppy…and their mums!
